Whangarei 2006 Launch
Combined teamed up with The Whangarei Leader to launch the Make It Happen awards in Whangarei giving away $15,000 on 27 April 2006.
The scheme gave away a share of a $15,000 prize pool to people, groups and charities who wanted to benefit the community in the Whangarei area.
A panel of judges decided which of the award entries were most beneficial to the community and most deserving of the cash, then award winners were invited to a special awards ceremony.

A panel of judges decided which of the entries were most beneficial to the community and most deserving of the cash and the winners were invited to a special presentation event on 27 April 2006.
The awards were presented by local Tri-athlete and Olympic Silver Medallist Sam Warriner, the Editor of the Whangarei Leader Nick Unkovich together with Paul Kelly the General Manager/ Vice President for Combined Insurance.
